About this Workshop

This workshop is designed for a team of three or more from each program or institution to gain an understanding of the assessment process and have the ability to evaluate their own program assessment plan against best practices. This highly interactive workshop will highlight key elements of a successful program assessment planning process, including:

  • Defining terms
  • Developing program educational objectives
  • Defining learning outcomes
  • Choosing assessment methods and measures
  • Developing efficient processes
  • Reporting results

At the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to plan and organize their program assessment process to improve student learning. They will also be able to evaluate their own program assessment plan.

Registration for this two-day, in-person workshop is now available! Three or more participants from one institution or program are required for registration. Please contact education@abet.org if you have any additional questions.

This two-day, in-person workshop takes place Friday, November 8, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST and Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. EST.

WORKSHOP LOCATION
This two-day, in-person workshop takes place at ABET HQ in Baltimore, MD.

WORKSHOP COST
The cost for this two-day, in-person workshop is $2400*, for a team of three, if you register by Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Add additional team members for $600 each.

The cost for this two-day, in-person workshop is $2500*, for a team of three, if you register after Wednesday, October 9, 2024. Add additional team members for $625 each.

Workshop Facilitators

Daina M. Briedis, Ph.D.

Daina M. Briedis, Ph.D., is currently an Adjunct Director of Professional Offerings at ABET. She also serves as Assistant Dean for Student Advancement and Program Assessment in the College of Engineering at Michigan State University and is a faculty member and ABET Coordinator in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science.

Over the past 32 years, Daina has served ABET as a program evaluator for AIChE, a team chair and member of the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC), the first chair of the EAC Training and Materials Development Committee and an Executive Committee member of the EAC. She was a program evaluator on one of the very first “EC2000” visits and subsequently chaired several new criteria visits.

Briedis has been an AIChE Representative Director on the ABET Board of Directors and has been involved in the design teams for the new program evaluator and train-the-trainers training materials. She is a lead facilitator for the program evaluator training sessions. She also consults in the area of accreditation and assessment and evaluation and serves on the Board of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). She was elected a Fellow of ABET in 2007, a Fellow of the AIChE in 2011 and a Fellow of ASEE in 2015. She is an ABET Senior IDEAL Scholar.
