About this Workshop

This workshop is designed for those who are new to program assessment and would like to gain an understanding of the assessment process or those who would like to evaluate their own program assessment plan against best practices. The three-hour workshop will highlight key elements of a successful program assessment planning process, including:

  • Defining terms
  • Developing program educational objectives
  • Defining learning outcomes
  • Choosing assessment methods and measures
  • Developing efficient processes
  • Reporting results

At the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to plan and organize their program assessment process to improve student learning. They will also be able to evaluate their own program assessment plan.

Workshop Facilitators

Catalina Plúa Morales, M.A.

Catalina Plúa, M.A. is the Director of Planning and Quality Evaluation at Universidad UTE (Quito, Ecuador) and former National Director of Educational Standards at Ecuador’s Ministry of Education.

In higher-education quality assurance for over a decade, she has led ABET accreditation efforts for Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Computer, Chemical, Electronic, and Food Engineering. She has also led successful accreditations across other fields, including Hospitality & Hotel Management, Law, and the MBA, plus the academic qualification for the PhD in Microbiology. She has coordinated accreditation processes across ABET, NAAB, AVMA, ACPHA, AMBA, and Acreditadora de Chile.

An ABET Professional Offerings Facilitator and ABET IDEAL Scholar, she has trained faculty across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. She holds an M.A.in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University (Fulbright Scholar).
