About this Workshop

The Using Generative AI Tools and Techniques for Program Assessment workshop bridges the foundational concepts of program assessment with the innovative capabilities of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI). Participants explore how tools like ChatGPT can be used to streamline and strengthen assessment practices across disciplines—no prior AI experience required.

Designed for faculty, assessment coordinators, administrators and anyone involved in program assessment, the workshop blends practical demonstrations with guided practice. Participants craft effective prompts, and refine them, to assist with program assessment processes, apply GAI to real assessment tasks and critically evaluate the validity of these AI-generated outputs. Emphasis will also be placed on ethical use, sustainability considerations and proper citation of AI tools.

Who Should Attend:

Regardless of discipline, those interested in program assessment and the program assessment process and those interested in learning and using Generative Artificial Intelligence in their program assessment processes.

No prior experience in Generative Artificial Intelligence is needed to attend this workshop but access to your own ChatGPT, or similar tool, will help your learning.

Workshop Facilitators

Catalina Plúa Morales, M.A.

Catalina Plúa, M.A. is the Director of Planning and Quality Evaluation at Universidad UTE (Quito, Ecuador) and former National Director of Educational Standards at Ecuador’s Ministry of Education.

In higher-education quality assurance for over a decade, she has led ABET accreditation efforts for Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Computer, Chemical, Electronic, and Food Engineering. She has also led successful accreditations across other fields, including Hospitality & Hotel Management, Law, and the MBA, plus the academic qualification for the PhD in Microbiology. She has coordinated accreditation processes across ABET, NAAB, AVMA, ACPHA, AMBA, and Acreditadora de Chile.

An ABET Professional Offerings Facilitator and ABET IDEAL Scholar, she has trained faculty across the Americas, Europe, and Asia. She holds an M.A.in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University (Fulbright Scholar).

Robyn Hall

Robyn Hall serves as ABET’s director of professional programs. In her current capacity, she oversees ABET’s portfolio of assessment education. Prior to this, Hall served as the Assistant Vice President for Seminars and Digital Learning at Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. She received her B.A. in anthropology from Eckerd College, MBA from the Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa and, more recently, her master trainer certificate from the Association for Talent Development (ATD).
