About this Workshop

This workshop is designed for those who are new to program assessment and would like to gain an understanding of the assessment process or those who would like to evaluate their own program assessment plan against best practices. The three-hour workshop will highlight key elements of a successful program assessment planning process, including:

  • Defining terms
  • Developing program educational objectives
  • Defining learning outcomes
  • Choosing assessment methods and measures
  • Developing efficient processes
  • Reporting results

At the end of the workshop, participants will understand how to plan and organize their program assessment process to improve student learning. They will also be able to evaluate their own program assessment plan.

Workshop Details

This three-hour, virtual workshop takes place July 12, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. ET.

This workshop takes place in an online, virtual format using ABET’s learning management system, D2L Brightspace and Zoom.



Workshop Facilitators

Jennifer “Jenny” Amos, Ph.D.

Jenny Amos is a Teaching Professor in Bioengineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is a AIMBE Fellow, BMES Fellow, ABET Commissioner and Executive Committee Member for EAC, two-time Fulbright Specialist in engineering education (France and Brazil) and has won multiple awards and recognitions for her teaching and scholarship of teaching. Outside of BME, she has also worked to revolutionize the future of graduate medical education serving as a founding member of the new Carle-Illinois College of Medicine, a first-of-its-kind engineering driven college of medicine. Amos was a PI of the Illinois NSF RED (Revolutionizing Engineering & Computer Science Departments) research team leading efforts to innovate assessment practices for engineering toward producing more holistic engineers. Amos has a decade’s worth of experience leading curriculum reform implementing robust assessment strategies at multiple institutions.
